Overview

I did my O'levels in 1999 in Maple Leaf International School, Dhaka in Bangladesh. This is an English Medium School and the O'levels were taught according to the overseas University of London syllabus. This overseas examinations run concurrently across the world in all Commonwealth Countries and are conducted by the British Council. The papers are set from London, and get marked from examiners in the University of London. This is why the qualification is internationally recognised.

O'levels are equivalent to GCSE qualifications, and they were replaced in the UK by GCSE. The syllabus for each subject is slightly deeper, and the choice of subjects is optional except for Maths and English Language being compulsory.

My subjects

I gave my exams in two sittings, which allowed me to divide my subjects. I had 10 subjects in total and I gave 5 exams in January 1999 and 5 exams in June 1999.
  • English Language
  • Mathematics Syllabus A
  • Mathematics Syllabus B
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Human Biology
  • Economics
  • Bengali

As you can see, it was basically a mixture of mostly all maths and science. I gave all the maths syllabus provided by the University, and this increased my subjects!
